If you've ever printed an image from your computer and got less-than-stellar results, the problem is most likely image resolution (also called photo resolution). The term refers to the amount of detail an image holds and is measured in pixels per inch. The higher the resolution, the more pixels per inch. Some other points to keep in mind:
- Image resolution has everything to do with printing your image, not how your images or photos looks on your computer screen.
- Higher resolution images generally produce better printed images.
Should I choose standard resolution or full resolution when I upload my photos?
- When you choose standard resolution, the quality of the images you upload will be lower than the original photos taken with your camera.
-
- Standard resolution is the default setting and allows you to produce printed images that are suitable for most of our products (like cards, mugs, desk calendars, etc.).
- Full resolution uploads your photos with the same resolution and size as the original images you took with your camera.
-
- For larger items, like posters, canvases, and photo panels, we recommend choosing full resolution.
Can't decide which resolution is right for your project?
We'll always tell you if we think the resolution of an image is too low by displaying a warning message. If this occurs, we suggest you upload your photos at full resolution and swap images.
